Disability access

Disability is a very wide subject as you probably already know. This page contains some of the provisions and facilities to make our building accessible to all.

Level Access

Emmanuel is on 3 floors and is built into a hill side. The upper floor has only stairs access. There is only one room on the upper floor (room 4) which is the attic in the tower next to the lift motors. Events requiring level access should be organised in other rooms. All the other rooms have level access from outside.

NB: ROOM 4 is only accessible by stairs.

Wide Parking Spaces

We have a wide bay on the upper car park which is marked as a disabled parking bay. We also have traffic cones to designate other spaces and you can pre-book these by contacting the Church before hand. On large concerts we recommend this well in advance.

Lifts

A lift serves the two main floors of Emmanuel.

Toilets

We have two accessible toilets, one on each of the main floors next to the lift.

Large Print Words

We have hymn books with large print.

Removable seating

In the Sanctuary / concert hall at Emmanuel we have big comfy sofa type pews (rather like the benches in the House of Commons but more comfortable) The front 3 rows of the sanctuary are removable chairs. The very back row is removable chairs and the aisles are wide. If you have a wheelchair we'd like to give you choice - just let us know where you want to be and we'll arrange it for you.

Chair with Arms

If you need a chair with arms - we have one, normally on the stage. Many people that have difficulty in standing from a chair have remarked that our pews are great to get out of. If you want a chair with arms let us know.

Hearing loop system

Turn your hearing aid to the "T" position

Assistance Dogs

We have a small garden at the rear of the Church building to exercise your dog. We'll get your dog some water in a bowl on request - or help yourself from one of the kitchens.
