Emmanuel Methodist Church - Barnsley

a better way to live life !

Welcome to Emmanuel . .

Hello, and welcome to Emmanuel Methodist Church.   My name is CameronRev Cameron Stirk
Stirk.  I have recently moved to Barnsley and taken up the role of Minister at Emmanuel.  I am a Yorkshire man by birth, and this will be my third appointment having served in Liverpool (my eldest son is a
scouser!) and then York for the last 10 years.  I am married to Lucy and have three sons - Aidan, Callum and Ronan.  I am passionate about food (!), music and God.

At Emmanuel we work as a team and my colleagues are Rachel Marsden (currently on Maternity leave), she looks after the childrens work (up to the age of 11) and Kirstie Hall looks after the teenagers and young adults.Rachel Marsden

We are part of the Emmanuel Leadership Team made up from ordinary members of our church and, with the wider church, we all seek to serve the Lord Jesus in our generation and in this area.

We are a local church situated to the north-west of Barnsley town centre in South Yorkshire, England.

As Christians we meet every Sunday (and also in the week) to worship God and to celebrate the amazing new life that the risen Jesus Christ offers everyone.  We believe God is interested in every person's life and wants to reveal His love for each inividiual as we grow in relationship with Him.

I have another page on this website that provides an introduction to Christianity, but let me just share further about Emmanuel, Barnsley…

 Church building looks like this

Emmanuel is a lively welcoming Church, open to people like you.
Together we seek to help each other learn about the Christian faith.
In a typical week at Emmanuel we provide a varied programme for new and mature Christians as well as people who are exploring Christianity for the first time.  Worship, bible study, prayer, mutual support and care are regarded as central features of our church life.

We also seek to make a positive difference in the world with ongoing local and overseas community projects.  We challenge injustice and want to be a loving neighbour to people in need. We seek to care for every person and the world itself.

We believe confidently in the power of the Good News of Jesus Christ, which brings transformation and real hope to people’s lives.
Therefore, we have a desire and a responsibility to share the message of the Bible and encourage others to become followers of Jesus Christ.

In these days where Churches often seem to struggle we invite you to come and experience a church that is seeking to grow and equip people to be Christians in their own place where they find themselves.  Why not come along and 'try' Emmanuel for yourself?  We are a Church that is lively, geared for all ages and has something to offer to any and every person.  We would love to welcome you.

Please visit this website regularly for new updates or why not send me an email?

God bless,

Rev. Cameron Stirk
