The team: Children and Young People team

At Emmanuel we have a thriving children and young people programme of activities - ranging from groups run during the Sunday service, to toddler, children and youth groups during the week, ad hoc children’s events and messy church.

They are the energetic team - trying their hand on ensuring the activities we offer are suitable, relevant and change with the needs of those who attend.

We have a paid worker who leads on coordinating and supporting all activities, but we can only run our children and young people activities with the help of our volunteer team.

Is this team for you?

You’d be perfect for this team if you have a passion for helping children and young people know God. You’ll be good with kids, young people or babies, and would be confident talking with groups of mixed ages in small groups of 5-10 up to around 50 people. You’ll also be great at adapting depending on what happens on the day, and be prepared to bring new ideas, and help prepare activities ahead of them being held.

  • Take registers of attendees, including collecting subscriptions or membership fees as required

  • Act as lead during the session, directing requirements for the helpers supporting you and leading of any problems as they appear

  • Arrive at least 30 mins before the session to set up

  • Ensure any equipment is locked up correctly at the end of the session, with all items secured

Skills you'll need

You will be required to hold a relevant level DBS check for these roles, and attend annual safeguarding training.

It would be an advantage if you have a teaching or youth work qualification or experience and if you hold a food hygiene, first aid or safeguarding qualification - but its not essential! We can support with training for how to lead sessions.
